Why it’s fattening:

First of all, rice cakes taste like cardboard, so I’m not really sure why people eat them anyway. I think I’d rather use them as a doorstop, hockey puck, or non-lethal throwing stars.

Just like cereal, they’re made from highly processed rice and WILL spike insulin, blood sugar, and open up body’s fat-storing flood gates. Most rice cakes also have added sugar in the form of caramel, with a whopping 0 grams of protein to boot.

Glycemic index value = 77.
