Stamps. Aspirin. Baking Powder. Toothpaste. Cereal Boxes. Vitamins. Shampoo. Nasal allergy spray. Sweet N’ Low. Yoplait yogurt. Trident White. Ranch Dressing. Ritz Crackers. Tylenol. Diet Coke. Deli meat. BEER.1

Common denominator? Corn…in ALL of it.

While avoiding corn altogether is impractical, being educated is the nest best step in the battle against obesity and low-quality food.     I know you did not write this but what an awful article.
     
    Look at his “sources” most of them are opinion articles and the ones that are legit just state facts about how much corn is produced/used in the states. He listed one study done on rats and the researchers even said they dont know the reasoning behind the findings. His “sources are equivalent to me using a bunch of amateur articles off the internet and presenting them as research findings.

    Mary Franz From Harvard also did a nice study on HFCS but I do not have online access to the full text.

    • I know I didn’t design the infographic, but your comment is completely off-base and poorly thought out for a few reasons. The infographic is merely displaying facts, stats, and metrics, nothing more.
       
      Also, while I agree that insulin, ghrelin, leptin, blood sugar, etc. play a HUGE role in weight maintenance, they’re not the only factors you can point to. Lower food quality, more GMO foods, an increase in processed foods and foods with added sugar (which is precisely what cheap HFCS enables, even if it has the same impact as glucose) are all caused by the proliferation of corn and ultimately impact obesity.
       
      Hyopthetically, even if HFCS and glucose had an identical impact on blood sugar and weight-related hormones, sugar consumption has still dramatically increased! It’s not by accident that the increase in HFCS production and sugar consumption are highly correlated…

      The infographic is basing its argument purely off of facts, stats, and data — nothing more. A quantitative approach is a completely valid way to look at the issue. Your “argument” just source-bashes and sites studes that are unrelated to anything addressed in the infographic.
