DOO-DA-DO-DO-DO-DO-DO-DO.

Hello there, manly man. What if I told you there was a new product line that could make you smell fresher than coconuts, pine trees, and daydreams; manlier than flying chainsaws, flannel-garbed lumberjacks, and grizzly bear-mounted jetskis; and more relaxed than a penguin sipping a piña colada during an Antarctican summer?

Lucky for you, there is. It’s called the Old Spice Fresher Collection and it’ll completely reinvent your manly man musk.

Old Spice’s latest release features a lineup of 3 brand new, dangerously fresh scents that are inspired by one lovely place — NATURE. New varieties include:

  • Timber – Herbal base notes complimented by fresher scents of woody timber and leafy mint. Think lumberjacks, grizzly bears, and woodland forests.
  • Amber – A combination of oriental and gourmand base notes with hints of seaberry, amber and molasses. It’s rugged, like tree sap and danger, but slightly sweet with scents of of black currant.
  • Citron – Green base notes with an invigorating mixture of citrus, lemongrass and sandalwood finishing scents. It’s fresher than limes and life successes.

Take one sniff and you’ll immediately realize that each variety is completely unique and radically different from anything Old Spice has released in the past. Think cologne-grade quality infused with the best smells that nature has lying around. They’re so authentically nature-y that you’ll instantly transport into the bowels of the great outdoors, complete with the relaxation and happy feelings that come along with it.

There’s even science to prove that — and not just some half-assed study filled with pseudoscientific gobbledygook. Old Spice hired leading neuroscience research firm Innerscope Research to test the psychological effects of the Fresher Collection on a group of 18-34 year old males.

Using skin sweat response and facial coding tests (similar to a polygraph), they found that the Fresher Collection scents relaxed guys just as quickly and to the same degree as smelling nature would — including things like cedar, rose, pine, lilac, and grass. They also found that guys automatically associated the new scents with masculine activities (e.g. chopping wood or rock climbing).

GET IN YOUR MANLY HAPPY PLACE.

The scents are wonderful on their own, but one of the most innovative aspects of the Fresher Collection is the technology powering its functionality. You’ll actually smell better the more you sweat. Here’s how.

But You Said There Was Technology Involved…

There is! Central to the Fresher Collection is Old Spice’s proprietary new BCD technology (it stands for beta-cyclodextrin, if you cared). Or what they cutely refer to as odor fighting donuts.

Basically, they’re ring-like molecules with a hollow core. When you sweat and start smelling nasty, the BCD rings suck up the bad fragrances and shoot out fresh puffs of heaven. They absorb the bad into the core, and simultaneously release the good. It’s an amazing little concept.

And it works. When I visited the Old Spice lab they ran a little mini experiment to show off BCD in action. They poured out a mug of coffee and handed me a little white test strip. One end was doused with BCD, the other was left neutral without anything applied.

What happened? Dip the neutral end in and the stick predictably smelled like coffee. Dip the BCD end in and it smelled like—what I imagined to be—pineapples, beaches, and palm trees. It was delightful, without any hint of coffee whatsoever.

And so far the Fresher Collection is living up to expectations. It feels…natural. I’ve been ping-ponging between Amber and Timber and have actually paused to take in the scent whenever I yank my shirt off. And then I’ll put it back on and pull it off all over again, just to get a fresh whiff of nature. And that’s after wearing it for 12+ hours. I’ve also received copious compliments—at the gym of all places—when I’m drenched and coated in sweat.

The stuff works, and their arsenal is so deep that there’s likely a scent for every manly man.

Fortunately, we’re working with Old Spice to giveaway ONE giant briefcase filled to the top with their newest scents.

Get involved below. And if you’re a woman, you’ll DEFINITELY want to hook up your favorite man (selfish reasons include: being constantly immersed in paradise, instant nature-induced meditation, a less smelly barbarian to come home to, and an exceptionally stylish whiskey carrying case).
