Although the rise in obesity can’t solely be attributed to increased high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) consumption, there’s no doubt that HFCS has been one of the major factors. You can find the full story explaining how insulin, carbs, and HFCS impact weight loss here, but I’ll quickly recap why HFCS is so bad for the body. The HFCS Story: There are many different types of sugar, a few include: lactose, which is found in dairy products; fructose, which is found in fruits; and glucose, which is a product of carbohydrate breakdown. These sugars are not chemically identical and have much different effects on the body’s blood sugar levels.
