The Handy-Dandy, Exhaustive Guide To Vitamins & Minerals; Complete From Vitamin A to Zinc [Part 1]

What are the B Vitamins

What are the B Vitamins

The B vitamins are a complex of 8 different vitamins, each of which keep the body well-oiled and running efficiently. It’s easiest to remember them as the energy vitamins, but not in the same sense as caffeine, green tea, or other stimulants.

The B vitamins spark cell metabolism, help convert protein, carbs, and fat into energy, and then make that energy available for use when the body needs it. They also support enzyme activity; DNA & red blood cell production; proper brain, nervous system, and adrenal function; and a ton of other miscellaneous bodily shenanigans.

Because each of the 8 B vitamins has its own little idiosyncrasies, we threw together a table with the specific functions of B1-B12 (click to enlarge), including: primary roles, RDI, sources, and deficiency symptoms:12345
