[Video] The Silly Reality Of What Food Serving Sizes Really Look Like


We live in a super-sized culture, defined by perpetually growing portion sizes and no regard for overall food volume. Whether it’s 11 Doritos or 1 ‘sad mozzarella stick,’ it’s pretty astonishing to visualize what actually fits in one serving.

The video above from Buzzfeed highlights the ridiculous gap between the reality and perception of serving sizes. When it’s THAT wide you know there’s a cataclysmic problem with food labeling, the junk that exists, and the way the human brain is programmed to eat.

For the record, that’s 140 calories/7g of fat1 and 100 calories/5g of fat2, respectively — I’ll stick with my 150-cal bowl of oatmeal and/or homemade Greek yogurt parfaits.
