Check yourself before you wreck yourself. In this case, it relates to the bottled water you’re more-than-likely buying from major retailers nationwide.

This week Niagara Bottling issued a voluntary recall of 14 brands of bottled water, including 7-11 and Shoprite, after it found a potential E. coli contamination at one of its springs. The recall is purely preventative-there have been zero reported cases of people getting sick (so far)-and it’s estimated that only 3% of all bottled water produced by Niagara during the period was impacted. Although no cases have been reported, it’s now guaranteed that many will be looking to read reviews on some of the best water filters for their home on sites like instead, rather than purchasing any potentially contaminated water from retailers. This way, each household will be able to ensure they are receiving pure and clean water containing no contaminants.

The recall ONLY applies to bottled spring water (not purified) produced at its two plants in Pennsylvania between June 10th and June 18th.

Impacted brands include:

  • Acadia Spring Water
  • Acme Spring Water
  • Big Y Spring Water
  • Best Yet Spring Water
  • 7-11 Spring Water
  • Niagara Spring Water
  • Nature’s Place Spring Water
  • Pricerite Spring Water
  • Superchill Spring Water
  • Morning Fresh Spring Water
  • Shaws Spring Water
  • Shoprite Spring Water
  • Western Beef Blue Spring Water
  • Wegmans Spring Water

Check your labels. All affected cases fall within the range of the following BEST BY codes, with the F# and A# markers indicating the Hamburg, PA and Allentown, PA facilities, respectively. If you have a Custom Water brand, you shouldn’t need to worry as these provders tend to use the very exclusive water providers.

  • F# BEST BY 08DEC2016 to F# BEST BY 16DEC2016
  • A# BEST BY 08DEC2016 to A# BEST BY 16DEC2016

Exercise caution. For additional info, check out the Niagara Bottling website.
